Charleroi woman fatally struck by vehicle in Twilight
Police are investigating the death of a Charleroi woman, who was struck by a vehicle early Saturday on Twilight Hollow Road in Twilight Borough, as a hit-and-run accident.
Wanetta Scagline, 57, was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:31 a.m., Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said. The cause and manner of her death are pending an autopsy.
Charleroi Regional police Chief Eric Porter said investigators think the incident happened about 2:30 a.m. She was found on the southbound side of the road by a passing motorist.
“Right now, we don’t have much to go on,” Porter said. “We have no witnesses.”
Porter said they suspect it was a hit-and-run, but at this point, they are not positive. He said Scagline lived in town and would not necessarily be in that area.
“We don’t know if she jumped from a car or was hit by a vehicle,” Porter said.
Police were on the scene Saturday continuing the investigation.
