CALIFORNIA
Charged in assault: William C. Rose, 40, of 471 Ellsworth St., California, was arrested Sunday night by California police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly punched a woman in the face during a confrontation at his home. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released on $15,000 unsecured bond.
CECIL
Assault arrest: Gregg A. Tilger Sr., 57, of 40 Birch Way, Muse, was arrested Saturday by Cecil police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly struck his granddaughter in the face and grabbed her by the wrist during an argument. The girl was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. Tilger was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and released from Washington County jail after posting a $5,000 percentage bond.
CHARTIERS
DUI, weapons charges: Christopher P. Zaken, 48, of 120 Allison Ave., Houston, was arrested early Saturday by state police on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, carrying a firearm without a license and traffic violations stemming from a traffic stop on West Pike Street near Cummins Avenue, Chartiers. Police said his blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
NORTH FRANKLIN
Woman assaulted: Michael Brent Miller, 22, of 76 Dinsmore Ave., Burgettstown, was arrested Saturday night by state police after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a home at 372 Hancock St., North Franklin. He also was accused of damaging her vehicle. Miller was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment, and was released from Washington County jail after posting a $10,000 percentage bond.
SOUTH STRABANE
Strangulation arrest: Hector Alonso Burciaga, 35, of 49 Naser Ave., Washington, was arrested early Sunday by South Strabane police after he allegedly choked a woman during a confrontation in a first-floor hallway at Springhill Suites, 15 Trinity Point Drive. He also allegedly punched a picture at the hotel, breaking it. Burciaga was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of strangulation, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Theft arrest: Shawn E. Rogers, 42, of 685½ Maryland Ave., Washington, was arrested Friday afternoon by South Strabane police on charges of retail theft and possession of marijuana after he allegedly stole chainsaws and tool kits valued at more than $2,600 from Lowe’s, Strabane Square. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.
Counterfeit bills passed: An employee of Walmart, Trinity Point, told South Strabane police Friday a woman passed two counterfeit $100 bills to make purchases of items, including a Visa gift card. About the same time, a man used three counterfeit $100 bills to purchase three $100 Visa gift cards. Several of the bills had the same serial number.
Money stolen: A manager at Speedway, 78 Landings Drive, told South Strabane police Thursday that an employee is suspected of stealing more than $1,500 from the business last month.
WASHINGTON
Assault arrest: Michael George Jackson, 43, of 106 Jollick Manor, was arrested Sunday afternoon by Washington police on a charge of simple assault after he allegedly punched a woman three or four times during a confrontation at their home. Jackson was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Money stolen: Julie Baker of Washington told Washington police Saturday she dropped her wallet while she was at Mega Express on Ridge Avenue. When she returned later to retrieve it, $310 that had been inside of it was stolen.
Driver faces charges: Jonathan McClure, 22, of 315 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with DUI after he allegedly crashed his van into a light pole on East Chestnut Street near College Street early Sunday. Police said his BAC was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed.
Vehicle damaged: Mia Johnson, 50, of 152 Hall Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with criminal mischief for allegedly scratching a vehicle parked near her residence, causing more than $1,200 in damage Oct. 25.
Drug charges: Paul David Phillips, 32, of 505 N. Main St., Washington, was charged by Washington police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at the GetGo gas station on Wylie Avenue last week. Police said they responded to the gas station about 11:45 p.m. Oct. 29 for a report of a man who had locked himself in the bathroom and was shouting. Police said they found Phillips to be in possession of nine stamp bags of suspected heroin, two empty stamp bags and a hypodermic needle.
Drug charges: Lachae Paris Wilson, 24, of 62 Marion Villa, Belle Vernon, was charged by Washington police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident just after 11 p.m. Oct. 29 on Leonard Avenue. Police said they found Wilson walking to the hospital for a swollen ankle. They said she was in possession of suspected cocaine, hypodermic needles, a crack pipe and other types of drug paraphernalia.
Money reported stolen: Evelyn Capo of Washington told Washington police Monday $469.50 was stolen from a plastic bag hanging from her mother’s walker while they were at the VFW post at 106 E. Maiden St.
