North Strabane bridge reopens
The state Department of Transportation announced the bridge that spans Little Chartiers Creek on Linden Creek Road in North Strabane Township has reopened to traffic.
District judge recertified
District Judge Traci McDonald had been recertified for service after completing continuing education course work conducted by the Minor Judiciary Board and Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
McDonald’s coverage area includes McDonald and Cecil, and Mt. Pleasant and Robinson townships.
Coroner’s office seeks information
Washington County coroner’s office is seeking information about family members of a person who died in the area recently. Romaine Carroll, whose last address was on East Chestnut Street in Washington, was born July 23, 1946, and died Nov. 2. Anyone with information is asked to call 724-228-6785.
Police departments get safety awards
Police agencies in the area were recognized Monday by AAA East Central for efforts to increase road safety for all motorists.
Platinum awards were presented to the McDonald, Canonsburg, Washington, Cecil, North Strabane, Peters and South Strabane township police departments, as well as state police Troop B headquartered in North Bethlehem Township.
Gold awards were given to Donora, Monessen and the Chartiers, North Franklin and South Fayette township police departments, as well as Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Silver awards were presented to the Bridgeville and Waynesburg police departments and Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
The police departments in Carroll and Cumberland townships were presented with bronze awards.
