Five injured in interstate wreck
Five people were injured on Interstate 70 early Friday afternoon in a crash involving three trucks in Somerset Township.
The accident occurred about 12:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the 26-mile marker. A 911 supervisor said those hurt were taken by ambulance to various hospitals.
State police said in a report that a semi-truck rear-ended a tri-axle that was stopped on the highway because of traffic ahead. The impact pushed the second vehicle forward into the stationary F-150 pickup truck in front of it.
Authorities didn’t identify any of the drivers, two of whom are reportedly from Rockwood, Somerset County. The third is from Brownsville.
State police said the investigation is ongoing.
