CANTON

Assault charge: State police charged Joseph L. Piatt, 28, of South Strabane Township with simple assault and harassment Saturday. A trooper wrote in court papers Piatt allegedly grabbed a woman at her home on Rose Avenue by her “neck and chest area” and threw her to the ground, and pushed her several times during an argument about their children.

HOUSTON

Vehicles damaged: A victim reportedly told state police two of her vehicles were damaged on McNutt Street between 9 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday.

NORTH FRANKLIN

Hit and run: State police said an unidentified driver crashed into a gas meter and then continued driving on the 100 block of Franklin Farms Road at 2:48 p.m. Sunday. North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department notified Columbia Gas of the downed and leaking meter and shut off the gas.
