I-70 reopens near West Alexander exit after rig crashes, catches fire
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the West Alexander exit in Donegal Township were closed for more than nine hours after a tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire about 3 a.m. Friday.
State police said the tractor-trailer driven by Harman Singh Brar, 26, of Middletown, Ohio, was headed east on the highway when it crashed into a guardrail on the right side of the interstate.
The rig went into a ditch and hit an embankment. The trailer became detached and spun around before coming to rest, blocking both eastbound lanes.
The contents of the trailer, food-grade powdered dye, spilled on the highway. The trailer also caught fire.
