Man wanted in ‘death threat’ against court official apprehended
A Greene County man who was wanted on accusations he uttered a death threat against a Washington county court official was apprehended Friday.
District Judge Larry Hopkins sent Kevin Nakutis to Washington County jail on $50,000 bond on charges he made threatening remarks over the phone to a district court employee in Bentleyville.
Nakutis, 28, of Carmichaels was arraigned by Hopkins after police in Cumberland Township served the arrest warrant and handed him over to police in Bentleyville, a court official said. District Judge Curtis Thompson transferred the case to Hopkins because one of the employees in Thompson’s office claimed Nakutis threatened her during a Nov. 1 discussion about the amount of money he owed on tickets.
Nakutis said “in a fit of rage,” that if he lost his license because of her, “he will bury her,” police stated in the the record.
He owed $489 in fines and fees at the time for traffic tickets he received in Washington County in August 2009, online court records show.
Nakutis was jailed on charges of making terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.
