Centerville Clinics gets $104K quality care grant

Centerville Clinics Inc. has received a Quality Improvement grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, for being recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader that provides “exemplary service and commitment to quality health care.”

HHS Administrator George Sigounas said in a letter that Centerville Clinics placed in the top 30 percent of about 1,400 health centers nationwide for quality of patient care.

Centerville’s 2018 grant is for $104,608, which comes from a pot of $125 million in grants awarded nationally. These grants are funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and are to be used to improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health-care delivery.

Centerville Clinics has 10 locations, including five in Washington County: Washington, Bentleyville, California, Charleroi and Fredericktown (Joseph A. Yablonski Memorial Clinic). Four are in Fayette – Connellsville, Fairchance, Republic and Uniontown – and one is in Greene (Carmichaels).

BBB award

Service Line Warranties of America, a division of Cecil Township-based HomeServe USA, received the 2018 Western Pennsylvania Torch Award for Ethics on Thursday night from the Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania.

The award was presented at an event at Southpointe Golf Club. HomeServe has more than 75 employees at its Southpointe offices.

MVH surgeon retiring

Orthopedic surgeon Scott L. Baron, who is retiring, will be recognized at an open house and farewell organized by The Orthopedic Group and Monongahela Valley Hospital. The event will run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the group’s office in MVH’s HealthPlex in Rostraver Township.

“It’s been an amazing 34 years,” he said. “I started as a one-physician practice with three employees. Now as a member of The Orthopedic Group, we are a practice with 11 physicians, eight offices and nearly 100 employees.”
