Pinarski named Observer-Reporter general manager
Robert Pinarski has been named general manager of the Observer-Reporter.
The announcement came Monday from Perry Nardo, regional publisher for the Ogden Newspapers. The company on Monday took ownership of the Observer-Reporter.
Pinarski previously served as publisher of the Herald-Standard of Uniontown and the Greene County Messenger in Waynesburg. He also has worked in other capacities for the Ogden Newspapers.
“Bob Pinarski brings vast experience and knowledge of the community newspaper industry to the Observer-Reporter,” Nardo said. “I’ve had the pleasure to work with Bob for the past year, and I’ve been impressed with his passion for community journalism as well as his commitment to the businesses the newspaper serves. He is a great fit for the Observer-Reporter.”
A native of Hammond, Ind., Pinarski earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Marquette University in 1990.
He started his career in advertising and served as advertising manager for The Times in Munster, Ind., from 1990-2001. Pinarski went on to work as advertising director for Shaw Suburban Newspapers near Chicago, became advertising director for the Erie Times-News from 2004-06 and then began working as advertising director for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis until he accepted the publisher’s position at the Herald-Standard and Greene County Messenger.
“I am excited to be joining the innovative and talented team of the Observer-Reporter,” Pinarski said. “Over the years, I have watched their continued commitment to superior local news coverage, their digital advancements and also their continued support of local businesses through effective advertising in print and online.”
Pinarski said he plans to continue several initiatives already in place at the Observer-Reporter.
“Developing a small-business incubator in partnership with the city of Washington and Washington & Jefferson College, as well as the Reimagine Main Street program, demonstrates the newspaper’s commitment to the local business community,” he said. “I look forward to helping develop these initiatives with the additional resources provided by the Ogden Newspapers.”
Pinarski and his wife, Angela, have three sons.
