Brownsville mother faces child endangerment, drug charges

1 min read

A Brownsville woman was charged this week by state police with endangering the welfare of children and possession of a controlled substance stemming from a traffic stop on the Mon-Fayette Expressway in California.

Stephanie Jean Datsko, 35, of 301 Front St., is also charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

A trooper checked the registration and learned the driver, later identified as Datsko, had a suspended license. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spotted a pill bottle with an obliterated label in plain view in her purse.

The trooper seized the bottle, finding a small bag of marijuana, Adderall and two other types of pills. Datsko reportedly admitted to police she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day.

Datsko’s three children, ages 2, 4 and 10, were in the vehicle along with a passenger’s two children.

The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis. She is scheduled for a Nov. 5 preliminary hearing before Kanalis.
