ROSTRAVER – A Fayette County man is wanted by state police in connection with a July traffic stop and the seizure of an assortment of drugs and weapons in Rostraver Township.

District Judge Charles Christner signed a warrant Friday for the arrest of Robert Earl Metz, 47, of 1113 Third St., Fayette City, involving items seized from his motorcycle, court records show.

State police said troopers were in the 400 block of Route 51 south about 2:40 a.m. July 18 when they noticed a motorcycle speeding in the distance, the affidavit indicates.

The police cruiser traveled at a speed of 100 mph to catch up with Metz, who pulled over to the berm in a “delayed response,” police noted in court records. He was wearing Pagan motorcycle club colors, court records show.

Troopers said they noticed a loaded silver revolver inside his saddlebag while he was pulling out paperwork. A loaded .357-caliber revolver also was in the saddlebag, police indicated.

Police said several knives were taken from Metz at the scene of the traffic stop.

Police impounded the motorcycle at the Belle Vernon barracks and then obtained a warrant to search the vehicle.

Police said they later seized from the vehicle a bag containing psilocybin mushrooms, a small amount of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine.

Metz is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, two counts of carrying a firearm without a license, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic violations.
