Gun discovered in Cal U. building
CALIFORNIA – California University of Pennsylvania police are investigating the discovery this week of a gun in a campus building, the school said Wednesday.
The case is being handled as a “personnel matter,” Cal U. spokeswoman Christine Kindl said.
She said the university’s firearms policy “prohibits guns in classrooms.”
The university declined to identify the employee who is under investigation or the building where the gun was discovered. Nor did it indicate the type of gun involved.
University police secured the area after the gun was found, Kindl said.
“The students were never at any risk, and there was never any threat,” Kindl said.
The ban on firearms also applies to administrative buildings, student residences and dining areas, and at sporting, entertainment, recreational or educational events on university property, according to the university’s policy on guns.
Failure to comply with the policy may result in disciplinary actions being taken against students and employees, the policy indicates.
