PUC: Green’s Taxi must pay up
The state Public Utility Commission, meeting in Harrisburg Thursday, took action against Green’s Taxi Service, based in McDonald, for failing to file a required report and failing to pay an accompanying fee.
Under state law, all public utilities – including transportation carriers – must file annual assessment reports based on gross intrastate operating revenue. The assessment fees from all regulated utilities, including transportation providers, fund PUC operations.
PUC attorneys allege Green’s Taxi Inc. in 2015-16 failed to file its assessment report and failed to pay the assessment fee.
In 2016-17, Green’s Taxi filed its annual assessment report but did not pay the associated fee, the PUC said. According to the regulatory board, Green’s Taxi did not answer the motion related to these matters.
On Thursday, the PUC ordered that Green’s Taxi pay $5,629 within 30 days.
Thomas W. Bruce, identified in PUC documents as president of the taxi company, did not immediately return a call Thursday for comment.
Green’s Taxi, established in 1998, is centered in the Canonsburg, Southpointe and Chartiers Township vicinity, but it is licensed by the PUC to serve all of Washington County. It also carries passengers to Pittsburgh International Airport and rents buses, according to its website.
