CANONSBURG
Daughter to be charged: A 14-year-old Canonsburg girl will be charged by Canonsburg police in a juvenile allegation with simple assault after she allegedly dumped the contents of her purse Thursday and threw the items at her mother during a confrontation at their Giffin Avenue home. The 35-year-old woman was hit in the face, causing a laceration. Washington County Children and Youth Services was contacted. The girl spent the night at her grandmother’s residence.
Vehicle damaged: Laura Ann Schwimmer of Venetia told Canonsburg police early Saturday that a woman punched and scratched Schwimmer’s vehicle as she sat inside it while it was parked outside 45 E. Pike St. Police said charges are pending.
CHARTIERS
Assault arrest: Nicholas Anthony Feeney, 37, of 215 W. Country Barn Road, Houston, was arrested Saturday night by Chartiers police on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of assaulting his fiancee and her 15-year-old daughter during a confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released after posting $10,000 bond.
Theft, receiving charges: Scott Allan Ely, 57, of 25 Gretna Road, Washington, was charged last week by Chartiers police with theft and receiving stolen property. He is accused of stealing a halogen light tower, Stihl leaf blower, a drill and a grinder from a neighbor Sept. 12. Ely then allegedly tried to sell the items to another neighbor. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
One injured: Barbara Walker, 79, of Champion Drive, Chartiers, was slightly injured Sunday afternoon when her vehicle and a vehicle driven by Ryan Rydzewski, 31, of Pittsburgh, collided at the intersection of North Main Street and Miners Run Road, Chartiers police said. She refused treatment for leg and shoulder injuries.
Identification stolen: Edward DeVaughn of Chartiers told township police Saturday that his personal information was used to open an account in Ohio and steal $213.50.
Vehicle rolls: Roy Groppa Jr., 44, of New Cumberland, W.Va., suffered a minor injury Thursday afternoon when his vehicle slid on Henderson Avenue near Mulberry Hill Road, hit an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Police said the tires on his vehicle were bald.
Personal information used: Nicholas McKinney of Chartiers told township police Friday that he received an alert that his personal information was used to open an account and make charges of $3,850 on it.
SOUTH STRABANE
House burglarized: Jian Bin Pan and Winnie Lin of Scout Drive told South Strabane police that their home was burglarized Saturday. Several rooms were ransacked, and cash and jewelry were stolen. Anyone who might have seen anything suspicious in the area of Scout Drive or Quarry Road is asked to call police at 724-225-8111.
Leaf blower stolen: A Stihl leaf blower was reported stolen Thursday from the back of a flatbed truck parked on property of Asphalt Seal and Paving, 660 Pike St., Meadow Lands, South Strabane police said.
Chain-reaction crash: Several people were injured Sunday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash on the ramp from Interstate 70 eastbound to Interstate 79 northbound, South Strabane. State police identified the drivers as Ronald Harman of Sardis, Ohio; Kristy Atha of Fairmont, W.Va.; Charles Coffman of Masontown, W.Va.; and Christine Edwards of Newark, Ohio. Details on the extent of the injuries were not available.
WASHINGTON
Woman assaulted: A 46-year-old Washington woman told Washington police early Monday that she was assaulted when an argument with a 55-year-old Washington man turned physical inside a home on Gibson Avenue. He reportedly grabbed her arms. She refused treatment. Police said they plan to charge the man with simple assault.
Unauthorized use: Lakeysha Gilbert told Washington police that her 2010 Nissan Altima was taken from outside her Jollick Manor home Sunday.
Disorderly charges: Paul Phillips of 505 N. Main St., Washington, faces two counts of disorderly conduct after allegedly creating two disturbances, one in the 500 block of North Main and the other in the 10 block of West Walnut Street, less than 45 minutes apart early Sunday.
Driver faces charges: Ryan Keith Morrison, 200 Sprowls Alley, Claysville, faces charges including driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly hit an unidentified pedestrian Saturday near the intersection of North Main Street and Wilson Avenue. Washington police said he fled, only to hit a vehicle near the intersection of North Main and Chestnut Street. The pedestrian walked to Washington Hospital for treatment. Police said Morrison’s blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed.
Window damaged: Josh Matthews told Washington police Saturday that a living room window was damaged at his Dewey Avenue home.
Vehicle, home damaged: Sheila Beckner told Washington police Saturday that her front door window was damaged by vandals. Also, the front passenger window was broken on her vehicle, and a headlight cover was damaged.
Saxophone stolen: Anita Millian of Washington told Washington police Saturday that her daughter’s alto saxophone was stolen from the sidewalk outside Washington High School stadium, Tyler Avenue, on Friday. The case and reeds were later found.
Money stolen: Robert McCartney told Washington police Friday that a roll of quarters and $820 in money orders were stolen from his apartment in the 10 block of North Main Street.
