A West Pike Run Township man is accused of stealing his uncle’s wallet at a hospital and then using one of his credit cards in a string of purchases, even after the relative died in August.

Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport police filed charges Monday against Jason Quail, 43, of 148 Evergreen Road, Daisytown, court records show.

Police accuse Quail of accompanying his uncle, James Porterfield of Roscoe, to a hospital at 11 a.m. Aug. 13, and stealing his wallet. Porterfield died three days later.

Quail is accused of using Porterfield’s credit card 13 times to make more than $1,000 worth of purchases before the theft was discovered Sept. 18, police said.

He is facing 13 counts each of identity theft and access device fraud and one count of theft.

District Judge Larry Hopkins sent Quail to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
