Chartiers police to get drug drop box
The Chartiers Township police department was notified Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association that it has been selected to receive a drug drop box.
Chief James Horvath made an application for the box, supplied by Rite Aid Pharmacy through its Kids Cents Foundation.
The department has participated in the federal Drug Enforcement Agency National Prescription Drug Take Back program since it started several years ago. The next Drug Take Back Day is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 27.
Horvath said the box will make it more convenient for residents by providing a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. The box is located in the lobby of the municipal center, which is open from 8 a.m to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
