Police use pepper spray to disperse California party; two arrested
Two women are in Washington County jail on charges including riot after California police were called to a large party at 137 Union St. Friday night that had to be broken up with pepper spray.
Kennedy Loren Rainey, 20, and Auriaun Yanai Thomas, 20, both of Aliquippa, were arrested on charges of riot, obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, underage drinking and operating a disorderly house. They were arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in jail on $10,000 bond.
Police said they were called to the party just before midnight where about 200 people had spilled out of the apartment and into the street.
Rainey and Thomas were reportedly the renters of the apartment and they allegedly refused to break up the party and provide identification.
They allegedly resisted as police tried to take them into custody, and the crowd made several attempts to stop the officers and refused to disperse. Police then used pepper spray to break up the crowd.
This weekend is homecoming at California University of Pennsylvania with several special events planned.
