Charleroi man arrested in assault of Washington Hospital nurse
A Charleroi man is being held in Washington County jail without bond after he allegedly assaulted a nurse at Washington Hospital and threatened another hospital employee Saturday night.
Michael J. Susick, 46, of 601 Fallowfield Ave., was arrested by Washington police on charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
Police were called to the behavioral health unit at the hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., about 11:20 p.m. Susick was reportedly upset over his treatment and became aggressive.
Susick allegedly threatened to hurt one of the staff members if he was given a shot. Susick was able to gain entry to a secure nurse’s station. He reportedly grabbed one of the male nurses by the back of the neck and punched him in the ribs. Police said the nurse had no visible signs of injury and refused treatment.
Susick was medically cleared by staff at the hospital and discharged. He was then taken to jail.
Susick was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail without bond. It was noted in court documents Susick was conisdered a significant threat to himself and others. Susick is scheduled for an Oct. 22 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
