CENTERVILLE – A 26-year-old Charleroi man was killed Wednesday afternoon when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding struck a tractor-trailer on Route 40 in Centerville, according to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

The 4:04 p.m. crash near Linton Road closed Route 40 to traffic for more than two hours while state police investigated the scene, a 911 supervisor said.

Levi Jacob Mattey was pronounced dead at 4:57 p.m., Warco said.

The cause and manner of Mattey’s death are pending investigation, Warco said.

State police were assisted at the scene by West Pike Run Township Police Department and Richeyville and Denbo-Vesta 6 volunteer fire departments and Brownsville EMS.

The accident is under investigation by Centerville Borough Police Department.
