CECIL
DUI, resisting arrest: Evan Grottenthaler, 26, of Grange Road, Cecil, was arrested Monday night by Cecil police after he reportedly crashed his vehicle into a hillside in the 3200 block of Millers Run Road. He reportedly told police he had been sending a text and missed a turn. He also allegedly admitted to drinking. When police tried to place handcuffs on him, he struggled. After arriving at the station, he resisted getting out of the cruiser. While inside the station, he kicked at the glass in the holding cell and at the officers. He refused to submit to a blood alcohol test. Grottenthaler was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, harassment, resisting arrest, obstructing justice and texting while driving. He was placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
DUI crash: Catlynne Marino, 21, of Railroad Street, Houston, will be charged by Cecil police with DUI after she allegedly crashed her vehicle over a hill on Burnside Road Friday night. Her blood alcohol level was more than double the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication, police said.
Endangerment charge: Nicholas Morena, 23, of Pittsburgh, will be charged by Cecil police with reckless endangerment after he allegedly accidentally shot his friend, a 24-year-old Pittsburgh man, in the foot Friday. The two were target shooting at cans off Federal Street in Lawrence. The victim was taken to St. Clair Hospital for treatment.
CHARTIERS
Left crash scene: Tracy McCarrell, 30, of Meadow Lands, will be charged by Chartiers police with leaving the scene of a crash after she reportedly crashed her vehicle into another over the weekend on Marshall Avenue.
ELLSWORTH
Theft charges: State police charged Debbie L. Hartley, 53, of East Bethlehem Township Monday with theft and access device charge. The charges stem from an allegation she used a bank card belonging to a woman for whom she was a home health care worker to make $495 in unauthorized purchases between March 30 and May 24. Charges were filed by summons at District Judge Curtis Thompson’s office.
MARIANNA
Man charged: State police charged John R. Flory, 22, of Fredericktown with counts including DUI, criminal mischief, abandoning a vehicle, careless driving and reckless driving in connection with an incident early Sept. 25. Flory was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he allegedly piloted a Ford Fusion into a side door of Lamphouse Bar on Main Street. Charges were filed by summons at District Judge Curtis Thompson’s office.
NORTH STRABANE
Warrant, drug arrest: Matthew Michael Grubisha, 38, of Munhall,was arrested Monday by North Strabane police on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Police were called to North Strabane Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, 100 Tandem Village Road, for a report of a patient who may have an active arrest warrant. Police determined Grubisha was wanted on warrants obtained by Pittsburgh police and Allegheny County sheriffs. When he was searched, police found him with suspected suboxone. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County jail on $1,000 bond.
Threats charges: Corey Stephen Kunkle, 25, of Swissvale, was charged last week by North Strabane police with two counts of terroristic threats and one count of harassment after he allegedly called his girlfriend at her Burkett Place home and threatened to kill her Oct. 7. He also reportedly threatened to kill a township police officer. The charges will be sent from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Marijuana charge: Michael Jablonski Jr., 19, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by North Strabane police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after he was found with the items Oct. 6 in the parking lot of Canon-McMillan High School. He was at the school for the homecoming dance, police said. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Unauthorized use: Joshua Leisman, 27, of 85 First St., Westland, was charged last week with unauthorized use of a vehicle after he allegedly failed to return a Jaguar to the owner earlier this month. The owner told police he was allowed to take the vehicle after he dropped her off Oct. 6 at North Strabane Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Tandem Village Drive, and then pick her up after work. He never returned and the car was found at his home.
Theft charge: Renee DeAngelis, 69, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by state police at The Meadows Casino with theft of mislaid property after she allegedly picked up a $100 bill that had been dropped on the floor by another patron. She denied taking the money, but police said she is shown on surveillance picking it up. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Gambling violation: Rabih Dans Fahed, 33, of Pittsburgh, was charged last week by state police at The Meadows Casino for a gambling law violation and disorderly conduct. He is accused of using sleight of hand to cap his bets at a blackjack table to get $350 in winnings. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
SOUTH STRABANE
Theft alleged: Rocky Collins, 61, of Metamore, Ill., pleaded guilty Tuesday before District Judge Jay Weller to a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception filed against him by South Strabane police. He had been scheduled for arraignment on the charge. He is accused of failing to seal coat a driveway on Acre Drive and charging an elderly resident $5,000 for the work. The victim has been paid restitution.
Felony theft charge: Ronae Patterson, 49, of 125 Shannon Ave., Washington, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Jay Weller on a felony charge of retail theft and theft by deception. She is accused of stealing items from Hobby Lobby, 85 Old Mill Boulevard, Sept. 18. She reportedly then tried to return the stolen items. Weller set bond on Patterson, who was placed in Washington County jail earlier Tuesday on a bench warrant, at $7,500.
Marijuana, theft charges: Charles D. Donohew, 28, of 31 Country Club Road, Washington, was charged last week by South Strabane police with retail theft and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after he allegedly stole items from Target, Strabane Square, Oct. 7. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
