Gas prices drop for in Washington, region for second straight week
Following a 2.5-cent decrease the week before, gasoline prices dropped another 3.4 cents per gallon in Western Pennsylvania this week. The average price of a gallon of unleaded self-serve is $3.077, according to a report Monday from AAA East Central.
That figure is 35.2 cents higher than it was a year ago, at $2.725.
Washington’s price dropped 4.8 cents this week, from $3.079 to $3.031. The price here is 4.6 cents cheaper then the regional average.
Pennsylvania’s price dropped 3 cents to $3.03 and the nationwide average fell four cents to $2.85. Prices across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region declined as well.
The Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region’s gasoline inventories decreased by 602,000 barrels to 70 million, a 12.1 million year-over-year surplus.
Washington’s price is the sixth-lowest average among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA. Altoona ($2.963) has the lowest average. Brookville ($3.199) has the highest.
