Driver killed in I-70 crash near Claysville
One person was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 west near Claysville.
The driver was the lone occupant in a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 70 near mile marker 7 at 6:51 p.m. when the person lost control of the car causing it to roll, according to a news release from Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.
The person was ejected from the vehicle, the release said.
The crash closed the westbound lanes of travel, state police said.
It also resulted in a huge backup of traffic in the westbound lanes, a 911 supervisor said.
State police were assisted at the scene by Donegal Township Police Department, Claysville and West Alexander fire departments and Ambulance and Chair Service.
The accident is under investigation by state police.
