A Pittsburgh man died of injuries suffered in a crash Tuesday on Interstate 70 in South Strabane Township.

State police said Akil Young, 23, was traveling westbound in the right lane about 9 a.m., and a tractor-trailer driven by 40-year-old John Lane Porter Jr. of West Virginia was headed the same direction in the left lane. Police said Young abruptly crossed through the right lane, attempting to exit at Beau Street, when his Dodge Caravan hit the end of a guardrail and spun back onto the interstate, where it was hit by Porter’s rig.

Young was transported by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Porter was not hurt.

State police continue to investigate.
