Home sales, sales volume, prices rise, Multi-List reports
Western Pennsylvania has experienced increases in home sales, sales prices and demand for homes, West Penn Multi-List Inc. said Wednesday in its monthly real; estate report.
Multi-List said in its October report that, in comparing January-September 2018 with the same nine-month period in 2017:
• Closed sales were up 3.58 percent (19,778 units, from 19,095 in 2017);
• Closed sales volume had increased 10.9 percent ($3,857,422,008 vs. $3,478,249,725);
• Average sales price had risen 7.07 percent ($195,036 vs. $182,155); and
• Home listings, however, were down 3.13 percent (28,174 units vs. 29,085).
“We have seen home prices rise and inventory dip over the past year,” said George Hackett, president of the Multi-List and of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services, Pittsburgh. “With home prices on the rise, our market still boasts plenty of affordable homes for sale, even for first-time buyers.”
West Penn Multi-List tracks residential real estate information in 17 counties in Western Pennsylvania: Washington, Greene, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango and Westmoreland.
