A Pittsburgh-area man wanted by Washington police in connection with the robbery of a pizza delivery driver last month in Jollick Manor was taken into custody Tuesday by police in the Allegheny County community of Rankin.

Devontae L. Dean-Mitchell, 18, of Verona, was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of robbery and conspiracy in the Sept. 16 robbery outside a home in the 100 block of Jollick Manor. Dean-Mitchell, who is known as “Silk,” “Silky” and “Silky Man,” was initially charged as John Doe earlier this month until police learned his identity.

Detective Dan Rush, who filed the charges against Dean-Mitchell, said police are still looking for an alleged accomplice, 19-year-old Kanesha Barfield. Barfield, whose last known address was in Roscoe, has ties to the Aliquippa area, as well as Detroit, Rush said. She also has family members who live in Washington, the detective added.

Shaiona Quashar Gilbert, 19, of 54 McCarrell Ave., Washington, was taken into custody the night of the robbery when she was tracked down near Crumrine Towers by Officer Matthew Karlosky and his K-9 partner, Tony. Karlosky saw two people run from the area when he arrived on the scene. The two went in different directions. He said he caught up with Gilbert, who was dressed in men’s clothing, and tackled her. The dog bit her in the back. She waived her case to court last month and remains in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond awaiting formal arraignment Tuesday.

While being treated at the hospital, Gilbert allegedly told police that five or six people were present during the assault and robbery of the driver. Her cellphone number was on the receipt for the pizza, police said.

Rush obtained surveillance from Jollick Manor and Crumrine Towers. The video shows a man, later identified as Dean-Mitchell, and a woman identified as Barfield, having contact with the driver as he attempted to deliver the pizza. Barfield allegedly tried to take the pizza from the driver without paying for it. The driver dropped the pizza in an attempt to get away from his attackers. He also gave up $20.

Police said Barfield and Dean-Mitchell restrained the driver, who was assaulted by three suspects. The driver broke free and drove himself to Washington Hospital for treatment.

Dean-Mitchell was placed in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond and is awaiting a Nov. 5 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger. Anyone with information on Barfield’s whereabouts is asked to call city police at 723-223-4226 or call 911.
