Teen arrested by state police on DUI, fleeing, drug charges
A 16-year-old Washington County boy was arrested Monday night by state police after leading a trooper on a chase from Interstate 79 near the Laboratory exit to Amity Ridge Road (Route 19) in Amwell Township.
Police were responding to a domestic dispute near a gas station off the Lone Pine exit when a trooper spotted a BMW traveling at a high speed, going south on the highway and weaving in and out of traffic.
The vehicle got off at the Lone Pine exit and turned south onto Amity Ridge. Police said the driver lost control of the car around a bend. The car spun counterclockwise and came to a stop facing north against a guardrail.
Police found 500 grams of suspected marijuana that was individually wrapped in a box in the back seat. The boy was charged in a juvenile allegation with driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding police, possession of marijuana and traffic violations.
