NORTH STRABANE
One injured: Robert J. Wingold, 18, of Pittsburgh, was slightly injured Wednesday night in a one-vehicle crash in the 900 block of Thomas-Eighty Four Road, North Strabane police said. He was going north when he failed to negotiate a bend. The vehicle crossed the center line, went over a small embankment and rolled over. He was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
PETERS
Charged in theft: Erika Lee Baker, 30, of 580 Park Way, Monongahela, was charged this week with theft by Peters police. She is accused of stealing about $735 from Allegheny Health Network, 160 Gallery Drive, while working for a cleaning contractor between July and September. She allegedly admitted to stealing money five different times. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jesse Pettit.
SOUTH STRABANE
Warrant arrest: Cynthia Norman, 35, of Pittsburgh, was taken into custody Thursday by South Strabane police on an Allegheny County bench warrant after she allegedly was caught stealing items valued at $125 from Kohl’s, Strabane Square. She was placed in Washington County jail on the warrant. Police will charge her with retail theft.
UNION
Charged in assault: Mark Daniel Westwood, 26, of Clairton, was charged this week by Monongahela police after he allegedly assaulted a 43-year-old Elizabeth man Oct. 13 at a home on Pumpkin Center Road, Union. The alleged victim told police he was asleep on a couch when Westwood kicked the couch to wake him and then placed him in a headlock. Charges of simple assault and harassment were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jesse Pettit.
WASHINGTON
Receiving arrest: Jose Aguiar, 39, of Clairton, was arrested early Friday by Washington police on a charge of receiving stolen property after he allegedly was caught with a 2018 Ford Explorer that had just been reported stolen by the owner to police in Jefferson Hills. The vehicle was tracked through a global-positioning system to the 10 block of Highland Avenue. City police said they found the vehicle parked and Aguiar next to it with the keys in his pants pocket. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
Assault reported: A 36-year-old Washington woman told Washington police Thursday a 40-year-old man she had been dating for about two weeks assaulted her and tried to rape her at her home in Lincoln Terrace before leaving the residence. Police said they will obtain surveillance video and file charges.
Check stolen, cashed: Michael Kinosz of Burgettstown told Washington police Thursday a paycheck for $420.65 sent to his former residence at 720 N. Main St. was cashed by another man at Shop ‘n Save earlier this month.
Wallet stolen: Ly Tran of North Franklin Township told Washington police his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle while he was making a delivery in the area of Main and Beau streets Thursday.
