More litigation filed over N. Strabane landslide
Another writ of summons has been filed in Washington County Court over a landslide at the Majestic Hills residential development in North Strabane Township.
An attorney for Christopher and Elizabeth Phillips of Oakwood Drive declined to comment on what he called “ongoing litigation” but said his clients’ home was not among those that had been ordered to be demolished by the township, which is not named as a defendant in this case.
The Phillipses have initiated suit against Majestic Hills LLC Inc., doing business as Ryan Homes; Pennsylvania Soil and Rock Inc., which performed geotechnical and earthwork monitoring at the site, and its employee, Mark R. Brashear; Alton Industries Inc. of Somerset Township; developer Joseph DeNardo, doing business as JND Properties; and his wife, Shari DeNardo.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages greater than $50,000.
A series of landslides since June caused road closures and compelled township officials to condemn three houses.
