A Washington man who was arrested early Wednesday by Washington police on drug and weapons charges is now facing an additional charge of institutional vandalism.

Gerald Herion Williams, 32, of 146 Jollick Manor, was taken into custody after an incident outside a home on Lang Avenue about 12:25 a.m. and taken to the city police station, where he was placed in a temporary holding cell before being transported to the Washington County jail for arraignment. Police said he urinated in the cell, forcing an officer to clean and sanitize it.

Police were initially called to the Lang Avenue area just before midnight Tuesday for a report of a man causing a disturbance outside a home. When police arrived, the man and car he had been in were gone.

About 30 minutes later, police received a second call to the home for a report that the man had returned and the car was parked in the driveway. Both the driver’s and passenger’s door on the car were open. A woman was in the driver’s seat, and a man was in the passenger side, police said.

As an officer approached, the man, later identified as Williams, could been seen trying to hide a firearm under the seat, police said. He was removed from the vehicle and detained.

Without being questioned, Williams allegedly told police, “There is a gun under the seat and bags of heroin in my pocket. Its all mine. She has nothing to do with it. Its all mine.”

Williams reportedly allowed police to search him. Officers said they found two bags of heroin, a 40-caliber pistol magazine containing 13 rounds and $264 in his pockets. Police said the 20-year-old driver and Williams allowed them to search the car, and a Glock .40-caliber pistol loaded with 20 rounds was found. Williams, who had a felony conviction on drug charges, is not permitted to have a weapon, police said.

Williams was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of possession of firearms prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of heroin and paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Kanalis denied Williams bond, indicating that the 32-year-old has seven outstanding bench warrants dating to 2010. The charge of institutional vandalism will be filed by summons. Williams is scheduled for a Sept. 24 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
