Police Beat Sept. 15
CANTON
Two arrested: Thomas Lee Cherry, 20, and Tahairah Elaine Jones, 21, both of 60 Bel Air Drive, Canton, were arrested by state police Thursday afternoon on charges of simple assault and harassment after they allegedly assaulted each other during a confrontation at their apartment. Jones also is accused of threatening Cherry with a knife and faces a charge of terroristic threats. Police said they also obtained a search warrant after spotting paraphernalia. Found during the search were a small amount of suspected heroin, cocaine and paraphernalia, police said. Additional charges are pending the outcome of laboratory tests. The two were arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bonds.

Underage drinking: California police charged a 17-year-old McKeesport girl with underage drinking and disorderly conduct after she was found Sept. 2 passed out on the steps of a building at Vulcan Village. She told police she had been drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking marijuana. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment.
N. BELLE VERNON
Man arraigned: Richard Michael Uhrin, 31, of 322 Henry St., North Belle Vernon, is charged by borough police with making terroristic threats and harassment, court records show. Police accuse him of threatening to beat Gregory Geyer and Ann Price with a hammer about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Uhrin’s residence. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bond set by Senior District Judge Herbert Mitchell Jr.
NORTH STRABANE
Two injured: Two people were injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Morganza Road near Morgan Road. North Strabane police said Thomas Fogle, 63, of Denver, N.C., was driving north on Morganza and was attempting a U-turn when he collided with a vehicle driven by John C. Aubrey, 50, of North Jefferson Avenue, Canonsburg. Aubrey’s vehicle was in the northbound passing lane. Both men complained of pain. Aubrey was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
ROSTRAVER
Woman wanted: Stephanie Lynn Petrosky, 45, of 415 Rostraver Road, Rostraver Township, is charged by township police with theft over allegations she stole $4,000 from a safe while working Aug. 19 at Comfort Inn, 4300 Route 51, court records show. She is wanted on a warrant signed Thursday.
Assault alleged: Diana Marie Pavelko, 41, of 285 Oliphant St. in Rostraver Township’s Van Meter neighborhood, is charged by township police with simple assault and harassment, court records show. Police accuse Pavelko of striking Justin Wilkinson numerous times in his head about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday outside her residence. She is free on $5,000 unsecured bond set by Senior District Judge Herbert Mitchell Jr.
SOMERSET
Theft charges: Matthew Michael Snyder, 35, of Aliquippa, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief filed by state police after he allegedly stole copper wiring from an AT&T cellphone tower site at 34 Hoge Summit Road, Somerset. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
WASHINGTON
Assault arrest: Doris Daugherty, 58, of 530 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was arrested Thursday night by Washington police on charges of aggravated and simple assault after she allegedly cut a 53-year-old Washington man during a confrontation on Cumberland Avenue near West Chestnut Street. Daugherty accused him of stealing $200. Police said Daugherty dropped two knives when she was taken into custody. She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Obstruction, underage drinking charges: Marcus Isaac Haines, 18, of 145 Echo Glen Drive, Washington, was charged Friday by Washington & Jefferson College police with obstruction of justice, furnishing alcohol to minors and underage drinking after he allegedly was found holding a can of beer at the Phi Delta Theta House, 135 E. Chestnut St. When he was taken to the campus police office, Haines allegedly refused to give police his name and date of birth until he was told he would be placed in Washington County jail as a “John Doe.” Haines also allegedly would not give police a current address. Police said they learned he gave alcohol to two other people under the age of 21. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
