A South Strabane Township man was in Washington County jail Sunday on charges of simple assault and harassment following an alleged incident Friday night.

Shawn Boone Boyer, 45, of 88 Country Club Road, is accused of twice striking Sherri Stiffler in the face with an open hand about 9:50 p.m.

Boyer, according to a criminal complaint filed with township police, attempted to break down two doors of that residence, then entered after forcing open a window before assaulting Stiffler while her 6-year-old daughter was inside the home.

Boyer, according to an affidavit of probable cause, could not find his snuff and when Stiffler and her daughter failed to find it, he threw a TV remote that broke the TV screen, then started yelling before striking her.

Police said there also is an active warrant out for Boyer in Beaver County.
