BUFFALO

Assault arrest: Jared A. Zerkle, 29, of 66 Haines Road, Washington, was arrested Saturday by Donegal police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his 26-year-old girlfriend during a dispute at their home. He told police that he was defending himself after she punched him in the face. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and released from Washington County Jail after posting $25,000 bond.

CALIFORNIA

Faces delivery charge: Jonathan Lee Byers, 33, of Masontown, will be charged by California police with possession with intent to deliver marijuana after he allegedly was found with four containers of suspected marijuana in his car during a Sept. 1 traffic stop at Second and East streets.

Marijuana charge: Christopher Hellmann, 23, of Monessen, will be charged by California police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia stemming from an Aug. 22 traffic stop on Third Street. He was a passenger in the vehicle.

CARROLL

Strangulation charges: William Michael Dietz, 24, of 987 Route 837, Carroll, was arrested early Monday by township police on charges of strangulation, simple assault and terroristic threats after he allegedly choked his 24-year-old wife as he sat on her and held her arms down with his knees during a confrontation at their home Saturday night. Police said the woman lost consciousness. Dietz also is accused of threatening to kill her. He was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and placed in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond.

SOMERSET

Driver identified: State police have identified the driver seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash Friday on Interstate 70 near the Dunningsville exit as Marcus Hargrove, 30, of Texas. Hargrove suffered a head injury when his vehicle crashed. He had to be freed from the wreckage. Hargrove was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. State police said the eastbound lanes of the highway near the accident scene were shut down for about two hours. There was no record of Hargrove’s treatment at the hospital.

SOUTH STRABANE

Ring reported stolen: A woman told South Strabane police Saturday that her mother’s wedding ring was missing from the elderly woman’s room at Hawthorne Woods, Locust Avenue. She told police that her mother, who is a dementia patient, never removed the ring from her finger. The mother’s living quarters were checked for the ring.

WASHINGTON

Window broken: David Spino of 225 S. College St. told Washington police Sunday that the back window of his vehicle was broken.

Money stolen: James Hutchinson of 418 E. Maiden St. told Washington police Saturday that $160 was stolen from his wallet while he sat on the porch of his home.

Harassment alleged: Jalissa David, 33, of 38 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, and Nicole Richards, 33, of 65 Lee Ave., Washington, will be charged with harassment stemming from a confrontation Saturday at a home on Gibson Avenue, Washington police said.

Tires slashed: Washington police said tires were slashed late Friday or early Saturday on vehicles parked on Ewing and Broad streets.

Wallet stolen: Colleen Watt of 636 1/2 Fayette St. told Washington police Friday that her wallet containing credit cards and identification was stolen.

Information accessed: Debra Neal of Washington told Washington police Friday that her credit card information was accessed and used to make four purchases in Canada.
