August table games revenue nosedives at Meadows
Gross revenue from table games played at the state’s 12 casinos last month dropped slightly – 1.33 percent – from the previous August. The Meadows fared much worse.
Revenue at the gaming venue in North Strabane Township plummeted 58.69 percent, to $1,437,556 from $3,480,125. The figures were released Thursday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Only five casinos posted gains from a year earlier. Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, was up15.67 percent ($6,398,160 from $5,531,455). Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, was down 25.07 percent – to $300,906 from $401,558.
Collectively, the 12 casinos collected $73,281,370 in revenue, down from $74,269,815.
The control board reported that $11,774,566 in tax revenue was generated by table games play last month, with an average of 1,275 tables operating daily.
August figures for slots play was reported earlier. Total gaming revenue increased 2.82 percent statewide over the year, to $275,010,801 from $267,460,292. That was an increase of $7.6 million.
The Meadows posted an overall 4.91 percent decline to $20,284,299 from $21,331,372. Rivers’ total revenue rose 8.16 percent (to $29,976,472 from $27,714,260), while Lady Luck’s dropped 4.19 percent (to $2,779,807 from $2,901,452).
