Drug Task Force takes 3 into custody
Washington County Drug Task Force conducted a sweep early Tuesday at a home in Washington’s West End and at a North Franklin Township hotel, taking one into custody on weapons charges and two more on outstanding warrants.
Antonio Eugene Wright, 49, of Wilkinsburg, was arrested on charges of person not to possess a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license. Wright was inside a vehicle that fled from the area and was stopped in the area of Katherine Avenue. A weapon was later recovered.
Wright was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. He is scheduled for an Oct. 10 preliminary hearing before Redlinger.
Iesha E. Hackett, 40, and Jamar Comedy, 29, both of Washington, were placed in jail on outstanding bench warrants.
Task force detectives along with city police have conducted an investigation during the past few months into the trafficking of narcotics in the West End of the city. Investigators obtained search warrants for a home at 477 W. Chestnut St., Washington, and a second floor room at the Ramada Inn, 1170 W. Chestnut St., North Franklin Township.
The warrants were executed early Tuesday by task force detectives with assistance from Washington Regional SWAT, city, state and North Franklin police as well as the Washington County sheriff’s office. Cocaine, heroin, marijuana and a semi-automatic handgun were seized as a result of the warrants.
Rick Gluth, task force director, said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests by the task force are anticipated.
