Cumberland Township police issued an arrest warrant for a Smithfield man who allegedly assaulted a woman and stole prescription drugs from her after stopping by her home to check on her after a previous assault.

William F. Forsythe Jr., 26, of First Street, is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, strangulation, theft and simple assault.

According to court documents, Forsythe was at Jennifer Whyle’s home at about 3 p.m. March 25, speaking with her when he learned she just got her prescription for Subutex, a narcotic, filled. Police allege he jumped on top of her and choked her, saying he was going to shoot her and reached toward his waistband. She pointed toward the box holding her prescription, which he allegedly took and left.

Police said Whyle had red marks on the side of her neck.

Charges were filed Thursday before District Judge Lee Watson.
