An armed man, who was a state wrestling champion for Canon-McMillan High School, was shot early Sunday by police who responded to a domestic violence call in North Strabane Township.

Police arrived at a residence at 427 W. McMurray Road about 2:30 a.m. Several officers encountered Logan Bradley Macri, 19, who was in possession of a firearm, outside of the house. According to a police report, Macri did not comply with officers’ commands to drop the weapon. The officers fired their weapons, striking Macri multiple times. Macri was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Emergency officials said a woman was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Neither condition was immediately available.

Macri captured the PIAA Class AAA 120-pound title at the Giant Center in Hershey in March 2018. Macri was a four-time state qualifier and WPIAL champion. He had a career record of 152-30.

Macri originally committed to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga but was given his release when the head coach left. He enrolled at West Virginia University, but it was unclear if he was still a student there at the time of the shooting.

West McMurray Road was closed for several hours but was open as of late morning.

The investigation is being handled by the state police.
