ALEPPO
Crash: A New Freeport man was taken to a hospital with a suspected serious injury following a Sunday evening crash on Aleppo Road. State police said Tim L. Chaney, 36, was driving east when he reportedly failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a westbound vehicle. He was taken by Southwest EMS to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Police said a 12-year-old passenger, also of New Freeport, had a suspected minor injury, but was not transported to a hospital. The driver of the other car, Mackenzie Carpenter, 18, of Wind Ridge, was not injured, police said.
DUNKARD
Theft: The Trumbell Corp. of Pittsburgh reported to state police that a generator and zip level, valued at $1,900, were stolen from a construction site at 290 Smith Creek Road over the weekend.
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP
Property found: State police said that on Sunday evening they found parts of a cash register from a gas station in the intersection of Prison Road and Sugar Camp Road in Jefferson Township.
Resisting arrest charge: Stanley Joseph Demaske, 34, of 436 Fourth St., Mather, was charged by state police with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after police arrested him on a warrant in January. State police said they assisted Waynesburg Borough police in executing an arrest warrant on Demaske at his father’s house on Jefferson Road Jan. 13. Demaske allegedly refused to cooperate, stating, “I’m not going to jail,” and “The only way I’m leaving is in a body bag,” the criminal complaint said. Police said they told Demaske that they were not there to hurt him and that they wanted to explain the warrant to him. Demaske allegedly told them, “Well someone is leaving in a body bag.” When police started to approach Demaske, he allegedly became aggressive, told them to stay away and threatened them again saying, “I’m gonna lock myself in the other room and by the time the bomb squad shows up, I will have enough supplies to put up a good fight,” the complaint said. Police said they had to deploy a Taser in order to arrest Demaske.
WHITELEY
Burglary: State police received a report early Sunday morning that the Old Station Bar in the 1600 block of Mt. Morris Road was broken into. Police said the burglar pried open the door and stole an unknown amount of cash from two vending machines.
