A Luzerne County man was arrested Friday on charges he appeared to be having sex with a dementia patient in a private room at Washington Health System.

The system’s police department arrested the suspect, Kaseen James Johnson of Wilkes-Barre, on charges of indecent assault and exposure after an employee noticed the alleged activity Friday on live surveillance video, court records show.

The system accused Johnson, 27, of removing his clothing from the waist down and lying on top of the patient in a sexual position, police noted in the affidavit.

The care partner who claimed to have noticed the activity went to the patient’s room and discovered Johnson standing in a corner, charging documents indicate.

The female patient was asleep at the time and unable to give consent of any kind because she suffers from advanced dementia, police noted in the affidavit.

It was not immediately known Friday if Johnson was an employee of the system or why he allegedly was in the woman’s room in the building at 155 Wilson Avenue.

Johnson was placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
