Robena Mine disaster memorial service set for Friday

United Mine Workers of America Local Union 1980 and UMWA District 2 will hold a memorial service to mark the 57th anniversary of the disaster that claimed 37 lives at the Robena No. 3 Mine, Frosty Run Shaft.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Robena Monument, located on Route 21 near the Hatfield Power Plant in Masontown.

The keynote speaker for the service will be Levi Allen, UMWA International secretary-treasurer.

The public is invited.
