An early-morning house fire Thursday destroyed a duplex on Oak Street in Marianna. Ellsworth’s tanker and engine were both called to assist with the fire.

Seven fire companies, including Marianna, responded to an early-morning fire that destroyed a duplex on Oak Street in Marianna on Thursday. A family of six who lived in the house escaped, and nobody was injured in the blaze, which broke out at about 1 a.m. Assisting Marianna were firefighters from East Beth, Richeyville, Cokeburg, Ellsworth, Lone Pine, Denbo, Bentleyville, and Jefferson in Greene County Jefferson. Due to low water pressure from hydrants, tankers were called in.

MARIANNA – Six people escaped unharmed from a Marianna house that caught fire early Thursday.

The Marianna Volunteer Fire Company said the house on Oak Street was engulfed in flames when its firefighters arrived on scene at 12:42 a.m.

Tanker trucks had to be called because of low water pressure from hydrants. Marianna was assisted by the East Bethlehem, Richeyville, Cokeburg, Ellsworth, Lone Pine, Denbo and Bentleyville fire departments. The fire department in Jefferson, Greene County, also was called to the scene.
