PennDOT to show plans for bridge replacement in Speers

1 min read

The state Department of Transportation will hold a plans display on Feb. 13 on a planned bridge replacement on Maple Drive that spans Interstate 70 in Speers. The existing bridge at the Speers interchange has a vertical clearance over I-70 of just 14.3 feet, which has resulted in it being periodically hit by taller vehicles. The new bridge will improve this vertical clearance by about two feet, requiring adjustments to Maple Drive approach roadways as well as Guttman Avenue and the eastbound on/off interchange ramps. The new bridge will also be wider and will add a southbound left- turn lane for traffic making the left onto the eastbound on-ramp.

The meeting is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Mon Valley Career & Technology Center, 5 Guttman Ave., Charleroi.
