Washington man sentenced in buy/bust
Washington County District Attorney Eugene A. Vittone announced Friday that Amady Taekquan Hoover, 23, entered a guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
The charge resulted from an October 2018 investigation by the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force into the sale of heroin and fentanyl. Detectives arranged for a confidential informant to purchase heroin from Hoover. When Hoover arrived to complete the sale, he was taken into custody by detectives of the task force, including Washington County sheriff’s deputies and members of Washington’s police department.
Hoover was found in possession of about 189 stamp bags of white powder later confirmed as a mixture of heroin, FUB-144, fentanyl, tramadol and methorphan.
Hoover entered his plea before Judge Valarie Costanzo, who sentenced him to two-and-a-half to five years in a state correctional facility. Assistant District Attorney Rachel Wheeler prosecuted the case.
