Charges refiled against two cousins suspected in Mon Valley assaults
ROSCOE – Charges have been refiled against two cousins accused of assaulting two women last year at their home in Roscoe.
State police Wednesday charged Davante Lemont Brooks, 26, of Bridgeville, and James Eric Gaston Jr., 27, of Washington, in the alleged assaults of two sisters during a drinking game about 6 a.m. Sept. 22, court records show.
District Judge Larry Hopkins dismissed the case Jan. 3 when the arresting state trooper missed the preliminary hearing because he was sick. Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone gave the trooper permission to file the cases again this week before Hopkins, court records indicate.
Brooks is accused of dumping a soft drink on Emily Hartley before punching her in the face, causing her to black out and fall to the floor in the residence in the 300 block of Furlong Avenue. He also allegedly kicked her in the head several times while she was on the floor.
Gaston is accused of pulling Kyrstone Jade Beach by the hair and pinning her against a wall when she tried to stop the attack on her sister. The two men then left in one of the women’s vehicles, police said.
Brooks is charged with aggravated assault, theft, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. Gaston is facing charges of harassment and criminal conspiracy.
Hopkins reissued the charges Wednesday by summons.
