Monongahela woman charged with child endangerment
MONONGAHELA – A Monongahela woman is facing charges for allegedly leaving two children in her home last week where heroin paraphernalia was scattered about the house.
Monongahela police Monday filled two counts of child endangerment in the case against Jennifer Lynn Russell, 37, of 206 Valley St., court records show.
The children were discovered about 10 a.m. Jan. 31 when an officer from nearby Carroll Township went to the residence to serve an unrelated arrest warrant on a man who was believed to have been living there, the affidavit indicates.
Police found the front door cracked open. The officer yelled, prompting a 16-year-old to come to the door.
Police said the rooms were in deplorable condition and the children had no heat in freezing temperatures and no food to eat, court records allege.
Washington County Children and Youth Services was summoned to get the children to safety, police said.
Russell is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges Monday in a summons.
