Hopewell Township man charged in domestic involving gunfire

A Hopewell Township man was arrested Sunday on charges he fired a round from semiautomatic handgun into a vehicle that a woman had locked herself and an infant inside to escape from him.

District Judge Larry Hopkins set bond at $100,000 for Michael James Hribik, 33 whom state police arrested at his home about 12:20 a.m. after the woman complained about domestic violence to Washington County 911, court records show.

Ashley Eileen Yasek told police Hribik choked her as she called 911, and she managed to escape with their young child and flee to a vehicle that was parked in the driveway at Hribik’s residence at 67 White Gate Road.

She said Hribik returned with a 20-gauge shotgun and fired two rounds from it into the woods. He also used the .40-caliber handgun to fire a shot into the tail lamp behind the driver’s seat of the of the vehicle while she was in the passenger seat.

Hopkins also signed three warrants giving police permission to conduct searches of the residence and electronic devices and to draw DNA from Hribik.

He is charged aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child, strangulation, simple assault, harassment and reckless endangerment.

He is free after posting bond, a jail spokesman said.
