Charleroi woman charged in Allegheny County home invasion, robbery
MONESSEN – A Charleroi woman who was wanted in a home invasion and robbery in Allegheny County was arrested this month during a prostitution investigation in Monessen.
Monessen police turned over Lauren Elizabeth Dumm, 30, to police in Penn Hills Feb. 15 after a city officer working undercover made arrangements through a website to meet at a city residence and pay her for sex, court records allege.
Penn Hills police placed her in Allegheny County jail on arrest warrants pending her arraignment the following day, where a district judge ordered her to be held without bond.
Dumm was accused of conspiring with Samuel Louis Sethman, 42, of Rostraver Township, to rob the man who lives on Pinewood Square about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 20.
The victim told Penn Hills police the two attacked him while he was walking up steps from his garage to his apartment. Sethman was accused of striking the man in the head with a hammer, holding him down to the floor and placing a knife to his neck while also threatening to kill him, court records allege.
Police said Dumm then placed the knife to the victim’s cheek, causing a small laceration.
They were accused of stealing his wallet that held $350 and two men’s wedding bands with a combined value of $6,500.
The victim took down the registration number of the vehicle the suspects fled in, and he later identified them from a photo lineup, police said in court records.
Monessen police received a tip about 6 p.m. Feb. 15 that Dumm was living in the city. An officer also was told Dumm was posting ads online at an escort service under the name of Miley. Police said the wording of the ads was “consistent with prostitution” and they also contained images of her in sensual poses, the officer noted in the affidavit.
Police then contacted the phone number in the ad using an anonymous number, and she responded, listing her address in the 500 block of Rostraver Street. She also allegedly offered the undercover officer sex for $70, the record shows.
Dumm greeted the undercover officer at the door to her residence and then ran and hid in a bedroom closet after he identified himself as a police officer, the record alleges.
Police said heroin paraphernalia was discovered in her purse.
A senior district judge in Monessen signed a warrant Thursday for her arrest in that case on charges of promoting prostitution, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In the home invasion case, Dumm and Sethman have each been charged with burglary, robbery, aggravated assault, theft, receiving stolen property, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and conspiracy, online court records show.
Sethman also was jailed in Allegheny without bond following his Feb. 16 arrest.
