Interim leader unanimous pick for CCBC president
The interim tag has been removed. Dr. Roger W. Davis is the president at Community College of Beaver County.
CCBC’s board of trustees announced Wednesday it has appointed Davis to be the school’s ninth president, effective immediately. He also is its first African-American president and – at 49 – the youngest leader of the Monaca-based college.
Davis, who had been interim president since May, began working at CCBC in July 2016 as executive vice president and provost. He was selected in a unanimous board vote Tuesday.
His accomplishments, according to the school, include: securing more than $4.5 million in grants and gifts since May; developing a long-term strategic plan; promoting community engagement; and negotiating and securing contract terms with faculty and staff unions.
Following “a thorough and rigorous vetting process,” board Chairman Robert Postupac said of Davis: “He is a dynamic, approachable, forward-thinking leader who will continue to advance the college and drive its strategic plan forward.”
CCBC, according to an official there, has 46 credit and continuing-education students with a Washington County address.
