Firefighters from Stockdale and several other departments responded to a fire at PVS Steel Services Inc. about 3 a.m. Thursday.

Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tom Wilkinson said the fire occurred at the top of the metal building, about 65 feet high, and the fire department used ladder trucks to extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured.

Assisting were firefighters from Charleroi, Lock 4, Fallowfield, Roscoe and California fire departments.

Wilkinson said it’s likely the fire was caused by a clog that prevented exhaust from escaping the building, causing a heat buildup.
