ANSYS acquiring Calif. company
ANSYS Inc., the global software simulation firm based at Southpointe, will be expanding its formidable footprint. It announced Monday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Helic.
Based in Santa Clara, Calif., Helic is an “industry-leading provider of electromagnetic crosstalk solutions for systems on chips,” according to a news release from ANSYS. Electromagnetic crosstalk is interference from at least one signal in semiconductor chips that has a negative effect on another signal, causing errors.
ANSYS said in the release this acquisition will enhance company solutions in artificial intelligence and 5G connectivity.
The company said it expects the deal to close in the first quarter.
John Lee, ANSYS vice president and general manager, said in the statement: “Electromagnetic noise is a key design challenge that is driving the need for extensive on-chip electromagnetic analysis. As the leader in multiphysics simulation, ANSYS already has the leading electromagnetic and semiconductor solutions on the market. This acquisition brings Helic … into the ANSYS family.”
