EAST BETHLEHEM
Driver hurt: Brian R. Kozy, 35, of Carmichaels, was injured when he swerved his vehicle to miss a deer, went off Beallsville Road and hit a tree just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, state police said. He was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment.
McDONALD
Assault charge: Heather Marie Bywaters, 37, of Chester, W.Va., was charged by McDonald police with simple assault and harassment after she allegedly fought her mother Tuesday night at a residence in the 300 block of Fifth Street. Police said Bywaters’ mother had to be treated at Ohio Valley Hospital for a bite wound on her arm. Police said Bywaters had allegedly consumed about two bottles of wine before getting into an argument with her mother. A witness told police he found Bywaters holding a chair above her head. The witness took the chair from Bywaters and held her to the ground until police arrived, according to the criminal complaint.
NORTH FRANKLIN
Criminal mischief charge: Nicholas Jacob Lesjak, 35, of 87 Murray Ave., Washington, was charged by state police with criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct after an incident Jan. 4 at Days Inn Motel, 1370 W. Chestnut St. Police said Lesjak allegedly grabbed his girlfriend, threw her down on the bed and slapped her in the face, before headbutting a television in their room and throwing a lamp about 3:30 a.m. Police said the woman then ran to the lobby to call 911. Police said Lesjak had warrants for his arrest. He allegedly did $332 worth of damage to the room.
